Pings

Nudge someone without opening a conversation.

A ping is a one tap message. You pick one of a fixed set and it arrives as a notification. There is no typing, and no thread to reply in.

What you can send

• 🍕 Let's eat
• 🔋 Low battery

The set is deliberately fixed. Most of what people message a group about is one of these, and a short list means sending one takes a second rather than a minute of composing.

Who gets it

Whoever you send it to. A ping goes to a person, not to the whole space.

What happens to it

A ping disappears the moment it is read. One nobody ever opens is cleared out after 60 days.

That is why there is no ping history to scroll: they are a nudge, not a record. If something needs to be kept, it belongs in a moment or a message somewhere else.

Turning them off

Pings are their own notification category. Turn them off in your notification settings and you keep everything else.
