A feature is unavailable on my account

Why a button might be greyed out for you and not for others.

Some parts of Circl can be restricted on an individual account. If something is greyed out or refuses to save, and it works for everyone else in your space, this is usually why.

What can be restricted

Most things, individually: changing your photo, username or display name, updating your mood, sending pings, adding moments, creating or joining spaces, generating invite codes, saving places, sharing your location, journey tracking, and changing your email, password or phone number.

Why it happens

Restrictions are applied to an account by us, normally while something is being looked into, or in response to how an account has been used.

What it does not mean

It does not mean your account is deleted, and it does not mean the people in your spaces have been told. Restrictions are quiet: others see no notice.

What to do

Contact support and ask. Include your username. We can tell you what is restricted and why, and lift it if it should not be there.

If everything is unavailable

An account can be set to read only, which restricts the lot at once. The same answer applies: get in touch and ask.
