Saving a place
How places work, and what the radius actually does.
A place is a spot your space cares about: home, a pub, a campus building. Once saved, Circl can tell people when someone arrives or leaves.
Saving one
- Open the map and tap Saved places
- Tap +, then move the map to the spot and confirm
- Give it a name and an icon
The radius
Every place has a radius, 200 metres by default. Your phone treats it as a boundary: crossing in is an arrival, crossing out is a departure.
Smaller is not always better. A radius below about 100 metres will trigger repeatedly as normal GPS drift pushes you in and out of it, a phenomenon everyone discovers the first time they set one to 50 metres and get twelve alerts standing in their own kitchen.
Arrival alerts come from your own phone noticing the boundary, so they need Always location permission. With While Using, they simply will not arrive.
